What We Believe

Articles of Faith

We believe that:

  • The Bible is the inspired Word of God and that it was written by men, moved by the Holy Spirit, and it is the supreme, infallible authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
  • The Godhead eternally exists in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; these three are one God having essentially the same nature, attributes and perfection, and are worthy of the same homage, confidence and obedience.
  • God the Father is perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom, and measureless in power.  We rejoice that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
  • Jesus Christ is the eternal and unique Son of God conceived of the Holy Ghost, virgin born, sinless in His life, and made atonement for the sins of the world by His death.  We believe in His physical resurrection, His bodily ascension, His age long intercession, and His personal imminent coming for His redeemed ones with His saints to judge the earth and establish His kingdom.
  • The Holy Spirit came forth from God the Father to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and by His indwelling to regenerate, sanctify, comfort, and instruct those who believe in Jesus Christ.
  • Man was created holy, innocent, and happy, but by the disobedience of one man sin entered into the world and death by sin, so death passed upon all men for that all have sinned.
  • All who accept the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, being born again of the Holy Spirit, are forgiven of their sins by faith in His shed blood and are justified from guilt and penalty by faith in His resurrection.
  • God in his own time and in His own way will bring the world to its appropriate end.  According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth; the dead will be raised, and Christ will judge all men in righteousness.
  • Those who accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord will rejoice forever in God’s presence in Heaven, and those who refuse to accept Christ as Savior and Lord will be forever separated from God in an eternal Hell.
  • All who are born again by the Spirit, through faith in Christ as revealed in the Scriptures, are assured of their salvation from the very day they take Him to be their personal Savior, and are eternally secure in the power and love of God.  We believe that this assurance is not founded on any concept of personal merit.
  • Christian baptism is administered only by the immersion of believers in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
  • God’s complete church is the body and bride of Christ, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the Head and of which all regenerated people are members.
  • The local church is a company of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized (immersed) upon a credible profession of faith and associated for worship, work and fellowship.
  • The Christian ministry is a divinely appointed means for the spread of the Gospel throughout the world, and it is the duty of all Christians to contribute to its support.
  • Each believer is responsible to God and will be held accountable to his/her commitment to faith.

Church Covenant

Having been led, as we believe by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior and, on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.

We pledge, by the aid of the Holy Spirit:

  • To walk together in Christian love
  • To strive for the advancement of this church, in knowledge, holiness, and comfort
  • To promote its prosperity and spirituality
  • To sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines
  • To contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations

We also pledge:

  • To maintain family and secret devotions
  • To religiously educate or children
  • To seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances
  • To walk circumspectly in the world
  • To be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportment
  • To be zealous in our efforts to advance the Kingdom of your Savior

We further pledge:

  • To watch over each other in brotherly love
  • To remember each other in prayer
  • To aid each other in sickness and distress
  • To cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech
  • To be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay
  • We moreover pledge that when we remove from this place we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.

Church Ordinances

Church ordinances shall be administered by the Pastor, or by some other person designated by him or a person authorized by the Church, at such times as may be designated by the Pastor or the Church.

Church ordinances are:

  • Believer’s Baptism – is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in a newness of life in the Christ Jesus.
  • Communion (The Lords Supper) – is a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of Christ, through partaking of the bread and fruit of the vine memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming.
